National Coordinator for Youth Ministries

Russell currently ministers with our two South Shore of Nova Scotia congregations: Milton & Summerville Christian Churches. He also serves as the volunteer National Co-ordinator for Youth Ministries with Disciples of Christ congregations in Canada and as the spiritual advisor for the Nova Scotia Christian Youth Fellowship. Russell was a past youth leader at West Gore Church of Christ for over a decade, assisted at Milton and Wyndholme during his ministry studies, and serves as a long-term (volunteer) camp counsellor and committee member at Johnston Christian Park (our Disciples of Christ summer camp in Nova Scotia). Russell enjoys working with his church youth groups, visiting youth and children’s camps across Canada and elsewhere, acting as the past president of the Camping Association of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, fishing for clams and periwinkles commercially, collecting postage stamps, and teaching part-time in Criminology & Sociology at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax. His university training is in Computer Science, History, Atlantic Regional Studies, Law, Socio-Critical Legal Studies (with an indigenous and anti-racism focus), and Ministry.
