How We Got the New Testament:
The Present State of Textual Criticism
May 30 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Have you ever wondered how a letter like Romans came to be in our New Testament? This presentation follows the path of one of Paul’s letters from the scribe who penned it to the letter-carrier who was the first interpreter of it to its original recipients. These recipients then copied it to share with other groups of Jesus followers. In time, these believers collected Paul’s letters together in a single codex (book). By the fourth & fifth century, codices contained what we know now as the New Testament, and, sometimes, these codices contained extra books that were not included in the New Testament. Scribes, often monks, kept these writing alive by meticulously copying them until the invention of the printing press in 1450. Come & learn of the marvellous journey of a New Testament letter
